Boxing: Tayla Harris vs Milli Agboegbulen live stream, preview, how to watch, Ella Boot vs Annie Thatcher

Australia’s Ella Boot has been dubbed the nation’s baddest woman pound-for-pound – with the Sydneysider willing to go three divisions above her own weight class, and with a metal screw in her right hand, to prove it.

Trained by the legendary Johnny Lewis, Boot will look to continue her hyped arrival to the professional ranks when defends the Australian super lightweight title against Annie Thatcher on an all-female fight card in Sydney tonight.

Boot’s bout serves as the co-main to AFLW superstar Tayla Harris, who is herself fighting the national super welterweight champ Milli Agboegbulen.

Yet while Harris may have top billing, Boot’s agent Pete Mitrevski insists it is the co-main fighter who has already risen up to become the nation’s most dangerous female pound-for-pound – ahead of even IBF bantamweight champion Ebanie Bridges.

Mitrevski also revealed to Fox Sports Australia his plans for Boot to fight her way into a world title showdown with America’s undisputed junior lightweight queen Alycia Baumgardner within the next 12 months.

Baumgardner is trained by former world champion Tony Harrison, and was in Australia earlier this year for her coach’s own championship showdown with Tim Tszyu.

Yet finding opponents closer to home is becoming an increasing issue for Team Boot, with Thatcher having come across from MMA to take this fight.

Regardless, her team insists the young Sydneysider is already the best of an Aussie crew that includes the likes of Bridges, Cherneka Johnson, Skye Nicolson and Shannon O’Connell.

“There’s nobody in Australia wants to fight Ella Boot,” Mitrevski said.

“She’s prepared to take on anyone, too.

“She’s already gone as high as super welterweight because there is just nobody out there in her own weight class who is willing to take her on.

“Right now, Ella is definitely Australia’s number one female fighter pound for pound.”

Tonight’s national title showdown will be the first fight back for Boot since suffering a completely displaced metacarpal fracture in her right hand.

Last October, the fighter suffered the break in the third of what would eventually be an eight-round unanimous decision win over Zoe Putorak for the national strap.

As part of preparations for her defence, and after having had a screw placed into her right hand, Boot has also spent three weeks training in Turkey -- sparring with a host of quality male fighters, including European amateur champion Kerem Ozmen.

Asked about her hand, Boot said: “It was a long recovery but I’m back to 100 per cent now.

“I kept training the whole time so haven’t had any mental obstacles to overcome.

“The original plan was for me to get a plate and screws.

“But at the last minute the surgeon changed his mind … thought just the one screw was a better option given I’m boxing.

“And everything is great now.

“Within the next year I want to be well and truly on my way to a world title.”

Asked about tonight’s rival, she continued: “I’ve watched her MMA fights but there was a lot of grappling involved so I don’t really know much about what punches she likes to throw or anything like that.

“And that definitely makes it harder because you just don’t know what to expect.

“So you just have to have faith in yourself and believe you can adapt in the fight.”

Boot also described her time in Turkey, where she trained out of the Arena Fethiye Box School, as “the best sparring I’ve ever had”.

“It’s an old school gym with lots of champions,” she said.

“World champions, European champions, national champions … there is a great atmosphere there and it really feels like everyone is working together -- champions creating champions.

“They’ve actually got a card on in September and have offered me a spot, which is definitely something I will consider.

“But I’m just really excited by the opportunity to fight on this week’s No Limit all female card. I think it’s a real step forward for women’s boxing”.
